The application of Chinese medicine considers and treats the whole person on all levels: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Acupuncture, a component of Chinese medicine, is an art as well as a science with thousands of years of history.
A patient came in and complained about stomach and back pain. He had gone to his medical doctor and tests did not reveal any issues. He received acupuncture for pain, specifically for abdominal and back, as well as Qi and Blood circulation and stress. After 3 treatments, he said his stomach pain was completely resolved and his back pain was not as severe compared to when he first came. Skeptics would say it was probably a high placebo effect. You might also say that maybe the stress was contributing to his pain and just having someone personally caring for him helped to relieve his stress. There are arguments back and forth, but does it really matter if his pain was relieved quickly without any other type of intervention?
